Last week I entered a blog give away on Oh My! Handmade Goodness. The prize was a 3-page informational website designed by Lizzie Sorensen Brand Management. I left my comment, crossed my fingers, and waited for the announcement. I was soooo excited when I found out I had won!
I've been wanting to have a basic website aside from my Etsy shop for a while but couldn't justify the costs to have someone do it for me and I have ZERO experience with web design. Zilch, nadda, nothing. When this fell into my lap, I was really grateful for the opportunity.
I've been thinking about my name for a while ~ Lockette. I love it for my etsy name because of it's playful association with my real name but I learned quickly that lockette.com was not available. Lockette is unique and easily "Googleable" but lately I've also been worried that it doesn't say enough about the product I'm selling. But then again, does it have to? I mean, what does Nike, Coke or Apple say about their products? Needless to say, this has been the debate going back and forth in my head for a while. So I've been hoarding other possible web names for the past few years in case I decide to go in a different direction.
If you've followed my shop for a while, you've noticed that I've included Paper + Fabric on almost everything from my packaging to my banner. This is the direction I've been wanting to re-brand to but Lizzie suggested I use both because my email, blog and shop all have Locke in it. She's so smart. Now I'm Paper + Fabric by Lockette. Makes perfect sense.
Well, here it is!
