I bought these great wooden picture frames a little while ago and one of them was too big for the photo gallery wall I had planned. I found a perfect spot for the frame but didn't want to put a picture in it so I turned it into a bulletin board using some materials from an old ribbon board I had. Here's the step-by-step tutorial.
- These old ribbon boards were sitting in storage so I stripped one down to reuse the particle board. (lightweight particle board was purchased at Home Depot).
- Materials: Particle board, stapler, fabric.
- Measure particle board to fit in frame.
/5 - Cut using a rotary cutter.
- Place fabric under particle board. I folded the corners to make them neater but you can cut them too.
- Staple fabric to the back. Remember to pull the fabric snug when you staple.
- I hammered in nails to keep the board secured to the frame.
- Gather your favorite bits and pieces. Most of these are leftovers from other projects.
- I used mini eye hooks to screw into the back and finished it off with picture hanging wire.
- Lay everything out and voila! I included a water color painting and antique key we bought at markets in Tunisia. Also included a vintage gold brooch and some fabric and paper scraps. I pinned on everything which makes it easy to change whenever I'm in the the mood for something different.
Here's the corner of our house that it lives in now.
