Oh My! Handmade Goodness

I don't know how else to describe it ~ it's a crush.  I mean, I'm happily married but I've had a professional crush on Sara Tams for the last two years.  I followed her blog, watched how she marketed her business, was secretly excited for her when she did well and have learned so much from her generous tips and advice.  Sara is the brains and beauty behind the amazing paper goods shop www.sarahandabraham.com,  and is also the editor of a fabulous new blog call Oh My! Handmade Goodness.  You can imagine my surprise when she sent me an Etsy Convo asking if she could use some of my photos on her new blog!

Wedding Collection ~ Fabric Invitations

It's no secret that I love weddings ~ the dresses, the invitations, the details, the favors.  I love it all.  If I could, I would have 50 different weddings all with a different theme and color.  I'm not ashamed to admit that I subscribed to Martha Stewart Weddings 6 years before I got married.  I have a tower of wedding magazines and I'm always drawn to the invitations on those glossy pages.  When a friend asked me to make her some fabric wedding invitations, I jumped at the chance.  I've been scouring the city looking for the perfect wedding fabrics for her so I decided to buy some others and add them to my shop.  Here they are:

 

That's right ~ the envelopes are fully lined in FABRIC!  Oh so luxurious.  I also fuse the fabric to the back of the invite and the rsvp card.

I'm pretty excited about this ~ a few weeks ago, one of the Editors from Style at Home magazine asked me to send some samples of my Fabric Christmas Tree note cards.  Now they're featured in an article called 12 Pretty Christmas Cards {hint: it's #3}

Winter Berries

Can you tell I did a lot of fabric shopping this weekend?  I'm loving this white berry fabric.  I think it's perfect for the holidays and can't wait to start sending them out.  Check 'em out in my shop.

Chocolate + Aqua + Red

I'm loving this color combination for the holiday season.  I did a lot of Aqua and Red last year and this year I'm adding in a little chocolate...yummy!  I fell so in love with this fabric that I think it might be my new favorite.  It's the perfect note card and can be used for any occasion ~ thank you cards, hostess gifts, holiday messages, notes to the teacher....

Holiday Cards 2009

Even though I've been sick this weekend (hacking up a lung and sneezing up a storm), I've managed to design and photograph a bunch of new products.  I'm really excited about my holiday cards.  Last year, I never got around to selling folded cards because I was busy going through my first Etsy holiday season.  This year, I'm prepared and excited to share my new designs. 

If you're new to my blog or my products, then you're just discovering that all the details in my cards are cut out of fabric.  The ornaments, stocking and mittens are all fabric pieces that I've fused to the cardstock.  Check it out below.

She inspired me to make more!  I'm loving this stocking card ~ I added cotton to the tops for an extra 3D effect!

I can't decide what I love more:  the fabric ornaments or the rockin' font!

These new cards definitely take more time because I have to place each piece of fabric but I'm loving the final effects.  You can find them in my shop here in the next few days. 

Baby Onesie Applique Tutorial

Remember my adorable niece from this post?  The baby shower was this past weekend and I made her some monogrammed onesies.  Here's how I did it. 

First, you need to buy some fusible webbing ~ like Wonder Under.  One side has a paper backing and the other side has the adhesive (the glue side feels kind of rough) Trace your design onto the paper side.  (Make sure to do it in reverse if it's a letter).  Then iron the Wonder Under (sticky side down) onto the BACK side of the fabric. 

 

Cut out carefully along the lines.

Peel off the paper backing and iron the monogram to the onesie.  Follow the directions on the packaging, but I usually hold it for 7-10 seconds.... and Voila!

Tree Hugger ~ Autumn Edition

I just love Autumn.  Vancouver turns the most beautiful shades of red, orange, gold, purple and yellow.  The trees are just beginning their transformation and I'm totally inspired. 

Here's a look at my new Tree Hugger ~ Autumn Edition stationery.  The trees are fabric - hand cut and fused to the 110lb card stock.  Just added to my shop!

 

"Best Witches"

I've been busy making my Halloween cards and I'm really excited about them!  I've just stocked my shop with a few of these new items.  This one features a fabric witch hat and a border in a funky green striped fabric.  I've hand stamped the message, "Best Witches".
