Pretty Packaging with Fabric Scraps & Sheet Music

I have an amazing friend who plays the piano.  I wanted to wrap her gift in sheet music so I asked around some of my favourite vintage shops to see if theything laying around.  One shop owner went in the back and pulled out a pile of old books and loose pages.  Jackpot! 

I didn't feel bad cutting up the pages because the booklet I purchased was already ripped.  I also used old fabric scraps, burlap, ribbon and kraft paper to wrap the gift and finished it off with some trim that I sewed into a flower.   I hope she loves it!

Schumacher Chiang Mai Fabric Cards

Last week I received a package in the mail.  I opened it to find the beautiful Schumacher Chiang Mai fabric!

Months ago, a client asked if they could provide their own fabric for their order.  I agreed and she told me it was on backorder but would ship it when it arrived.  I had NO idea it was Chiang Mai Dragon!  The funny thing is, I was just shopping online for some cushions in the Alabaster background (not the red) but was wishing I had a sample so I could see the colours up close.  It was meant to be!  This was a labour of love.  Not only did I get to make Calling Cards, but I also made some fabric cards and gift tags with the remnants. Each card was totally unique and fabulous. 

 

 

Super Cute Japanese Masking Tape

Who has the best friends in the world, you ask?  Moi!  Yes, that's right.  I had one request for my friend who was heading to Japan to visit family ~ find me some fun Japanese masking tape.  Let's just say she exceeded my expectations!  I'm so lucky.  Check out the goods she stashed in her suitcase for me. 

 

I don't know which one is my favorite yet, but I'm loving the Black and White set!  I'm excited to incorporate these into my packaging for the shop!

Chocolate + Aqua + Red

I'm loving this color combination for the holiday season.  I did a lot of Aqua and Red last year and this year I'm adding in a little chocolate...yummy!  I fell so in love with this fabric that I think it might be my new favorite.  It's the perfect note card and can be used for any occasion ~ thank you cards, hostess gifts, holiday messages, notes to the teacher....

Baby Onesie Applique Tutorial

Remember my adorable niece from this post?  The baby shower was this past weekend and I made her some monogrammed onesies.  Here's how I did it. 

First, you need to buy some fusible webbing ~ like Wonder Under.  One side has a paper backing and the other side has the adhesive (the glue side feels kind of rough) Trace your design onto the paper side.  (Make sure to do it in reverse if it's a letter).  Then iron the Wonder Under (sticky side down) onto the BACK side of the fabric. 

 

Cut out carefully along the lines.

Peel off the paper backing and iron the monogram to the onesie.  Follow the directions on the packaging, but I usually hold it for 7-10 seconds.... and Voila!

Pretty Packages

I always send a handwritten thank you note to all of my customers when I ship their orders.  I recently got a Big Shot die cutter and ordered this Top Note die from Stampin' UP.

They might be making their way into the shop if I get enough interest, but for now, I will use it for my thank you notes.

Wrap Around Address Label {Freebies}

So I was stuck at home today from 8-12:00 waiting for the cable guy to come.  I only have a few days left of summer holidays before school starts up again and I'm back teaching in the classroom.  I'm loving these lazy summer days because it gives me a chance to catch up and create things that I normally don't have time to do. 

I've been wanting to make return address labels for-evah!  Until now, I've handwritten my address for my +100 orders.  My biggest problem was that I hated my envelopes.  Sigh.  My husband orders them from his work, (which is economical) but I hate the color.  If it were up to me, they'd be white.  So, instead of pouting, I decided to make some labels that worked with the color. 

Here's how they turned out!

 

This is my favorite part ~ the back part of the wrap around label says, "Enjoy!"

Work in Progress

Not long after we moved in, I received a wholesale order for my fabric note cards.  The client wanted a variety of patterns and colors and it all looked so great sitting on my work table. 

Let's get Personal!

I've been wanting to do personalized stationery for a while and experimented with a couple different options where I could incorporate fabric into the design.  In the end, I really like the simplicity of these note cards and the fabric detail adds a little touch of fabulousness!

Ladybug Love

I have a few friends who LOVE ladybugs.  So, when I saw this adorable ladybug fabric, I knew it would be perfect for them.  I printed the grass first and then added the ladybugs.  I totally have spring fever!
